The History of BDS Ballet in Enfield

Founded and led by the experienced Judy John‑Baptiste, BDS Ballet—also referred to as The Basement Dance Studio—has been rooted in Enfield for over 15 years. It was founded at a time when there were no opportunities for ballet training exclusively. It is now  serving as a dedicated and nurturing centre for ballet training across generations.

The school’s inclusive mission centres on making ballet accessible and representative of contemporary Britain, fostering both artistic excellence and personal development in its pupils.

Under Judy’s leadership, the studio has become well-known for offering IDTA (International Dance Teachers' Association) exams annually, along with lively performances and recitals that help students build confidence and stage experience.
